What Can the YLC Do For You? Helpful Information From YLC Member, Lindsey Eaton

Are you a student leader or Chapter President who is struggling to run your Best Buddies chapter? Do you wish you had the support of other student leaders? If you answered yet to any of the above questions, then please take a few minutes to read below to learn more about how the Best Buddies International Young Leaders Council can support you!

The Best Buddies International Young Leaders Council is a volunteer-driven force that is dedicated to the education, engagement and empowerment of student leaders in Best Buddies through peer-to-peer support and innovation. The 20 members on the council were all chosen to serve on the YLC as a result of their dedication to Best Buddies. All of the members have been involved in Best Buddies chapter so they have dealt with some of the same issues that other student leaders have dealt with such as getting Buddy pairs to complete their friendship updates on time, raising money for the Friendship Walk and improving attendance for chapter activities and meetings.

As a council, we want to aim to provide peer-to-peer support to our fellow student leaders.  We invite student leaders to reach out to us at anytime if they need support from a fellow student leader. If you reach out to one of the twenty members on the council, you will likely catch his or her passion for Best Buddies as a result of the whole council being extremely passionate about Best Buddies.

To increase our opportunities to provide peer-to-peer support for student leaders for Best Buddies in the 50 states and around the world and to raise awareness for the council, we are active on all three social media outlets that are prominent these days- Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  We invite anyone to like our Facebook page called Best Buddies YLC, follow our Twitter handle @BestBuddiesYLC and follow our Instagram account bestbuddiesylc!  On those social media accounts, the YLC will be posting blog posts so student leaders and staff members can read them, as well as pictures of Best Buddies chapters.

Check out the below video resources that the YLC filmed during the 24th Annual Best Buddies Leadership Conference in July 2013 at Indiana University.
